StartGen gives you the possibility of creating your own Start menu. What's more, it lets you create a separate menu, so there is no need to replace the existing one. You can add any contents you want to your menu and arrange them however you think it's best. Furthermore, customizing the menu's contents is a straightforward and effortless job. You will be able to make your important documents and other commonly used files available right next to your mouse cursor.

The software is free for personal use and it works on any popular Windows platform and on various mobile devices. It comes in a small package and it can be installed quickly and easily. There is no need to meet any special requirements and you don't have to sacrifice a significant amount of memory or processing power.

The main user interface is designed for easy menu creation. All you have to do is add folder or web links, notes and other contents in a column, on the left side of the window, through Open dialogues or by filling in a few input fields. Furthermore, you can arrange your contents in a tree structure, by clicking and dragging. For certain content types, you can make further configurations, on the right side of the interface.

The custom menu can be displayed at any time, next to the mouse cursor, by using a keyboard shortcut. If placed in sub-nodes in a tree structure, your contents will be accessible in sub-menus. Through this menu system, you will be able to instantly access any folder or file on your hard drive, as well as preferred web pages, search apps and more. A particularly useful feature is the possibility of saving and loading menu systems. As a result, you can have specific menu systems for individual projects.

Any contents you need for your projects can be accessed on the fly through StartGen.

Pros

You can arrange any contents you want in a system of sub-menus. The software makes menu creation quite easy. It is offered free of charge, for personal use and it can be installed in under a minute.

Cons

There are no serious issues to mention.
